The Need

The Brodhead Naval Armory is a tangible symbol of over 100 years of military, cultural, and communal identity, with strong generational, military, and family ties. It is a shared national legacy for those who served our nation with distinction, honor, and blood. The Brodhead Armory is our sacred home through which societal gratitude and military heritage have been transmitted and profoundly connected to our military institutions. It is also where that heritage will be transmitted to future generations.

However, for many years the Brodhead Naval Armory has fallen into major disrepair and remains open to the elements for further deterioration. Another entity who has tied up the property for the past 5 years has not been successful with its fundraising, would have demolished a portion of building despite being on the National Register of Historic Sites and the State Historic Registry.

Solution

The Brodhead Assn. will raise the necessary funds to begin preservation of the Brodhead Naval Armory that has stood vacant since 2014, and prevent further deterioration of historical architecture and interior decay that has been open to the elements due to the urgent need for roof repair.

Community Impact

The preservation of the Brodhead Naval Armory will energize community development in the East Jefferson Business Corridor, as well as attract visitors and guests locally and abroad with world class interior artistic opulence. The venue would boost the local economy, promote community engagement, cultural enrichment, as well as strengthen social connections between veterans and military institutions.

The Brodhead Association seeks to raise upwards of $50M from for-profit entities, foundations, and philanthropists.
